Khaplang group’s silence questioned

DIMAPUR, SEPT 17 (MExN): The NSCN (Isak-Muivah) today questioned the silence of “Khaplang in responding to subjects queried on the killing of innocent Naga people during the Naga national struggle.” A release issued by the organization’s Ministry of Information and Publicity attributed the silence “to be the index of the inconsistent mind with conflicting deeds to its name.” The NSCN (I-M) said burning issues need to be addressed without delay.

“The NSCN during decades of Naga freedom struggle have never ever been engaged in killing innocent people, either stranger or compatriot at any point of time. If there were any (casualties) it was only during their aggression in collaboration with our enemy against us,” the release said.

Terming as ‘baseless and fabricated with political motive’ the allegations leveled against them by the NSCN (K) and the NNC, the NSCN (I-M) said, “The NSCN in defense of our nation and our rights have firmly dealt with an iron hand those traitorous elements that collaborated with our adversaries against our nation.”

The release also listed ‘few incidents’ of “human rights violations committed by the Khaplangs and NNC against innocent Nagas.” The organization alleged that SS Khaplang butchered 86 Dunghi innocent villagers belonging to the Naga tribe while Isak Chishi Swu and Th Muivah were being kept in military custody during martial law imposed by the pro-Shillong Accord group. “Zashie Huire who was then the Angh (Governor) of Japfu State of the NNC/FGN cold bloodedly killed without rhyme or reason 48 innocent villagers belonging to the Thevopisu village of the Chakhesang Naga tribe,” it said.

Another allegation made was that NSCN (K) Commander-in-Chief General Kholi executed the Chief Angh of Mon “on his own accord (without the knowledge of the high command. He also killed the Village Chief of Japuka for reasons best known to him.”

The release further said all innocent family members of Wuime Khiamniugan, a Tatar member and Lieutenant Johnny were ‘annihilated’ by the NNC.

Mentioning that in 1996 “the Khaplangs, in the sweet name of peace offensive, killed 37 innocent Naga public,” the NSCN (I-M) said, “Two innocent students from Phom community were inhumanly tortured, their ears and private parts were cut, their eyes were lacerated out and left to die in cruel pains.”

Pointing out that the ‘atrocities and diktats’ by these ‘anti-Naga national elements’ upon innocent Naga people go on accounted and unaccounted, the organization said, “But to the stark reality, misleading propagandas are spread by them so that our people and the world are misinformed of the hard realities and the NSCN is discredited.”
