The CorCom (Co-ordination Committee), the conglomeration of four Meitei based underground groups, while condoling the demise of NSCN (K) leader SS Khaplang has stated that the “death of Baba Khaplang is irreparable loss to the revolutionary struggle of WESEA (West-East of South East Asian) region.”

In its condolence message, CorCom said, “Throughout his life, Baba Khaplang worked tirelessly and dedicated his whole life for the freedom and sovereignty of the Naga people who are being exploited and colonized to the extent of deprivation of even their basic human rights.” CorCom then said that SS Khaplang was a revolutionary icon of the region.

According to CorCom, since his youthful days of 'Naga Defence Force' and later became the Eastern Naga Revolutionary Council, SS Khaplang himself was an epitome of struggle and suffering of the Naga people. It added that SS Khaplang was a keen observer and had a clear vision of the common polity of the WESEA peoples who have common racial origin, composite history, composite culture and are interdependent and inseparable from one another. “As such since 1976, during his association with AZ Phizo and NNC, he became well acquainted with the revolutionary parties of Manipur to pave the way for a common struggle against Indian occupation and its colonial aggression. He firmly believed that only a united struggle of the WESEA region can give deliverance of the people from its oppressors and enemies,” stated the CorCom statement.

To the liberation struggle of Manipuri peoples, said CorCom, SS Khaplang was truly a benefactor. The invaluable contributions of blood and sweat of the Eastern Naga villagers living with their meager and  always ready to share food, shelter and anything else is due to all his magnanimity, the statement added.

It further said that Khaplang having firm commitment and belief in a united struggle of the region always advocated for a revolutionary united front of the region.

The sudden demise of Khaplang, CorCom added, is a shock to all and has created a vacuum in the revolutionary struggle.

It also shared sorrow with the grieving family, leaders, comrades of NSCN (K), and all the officers, ranks and files of Naga Army.
