Khelo India Beach Games: Nagaland Pencak Silat team bags four medals on Day 1

DIU, MAY 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Pencak Silat team opened their campaign on a high note at the inaugural Khelo India Beach Games 2025, clinching four medals in the Artistic Pencak Silat events held at Ghoghla Beach here.

The team secured one silver medal in the Female Regu category through the trio of Hinokali, Dausanliu Rentta and Avikali V. Sheqi. The bronze medal winners included Kevin in the Creative Solo event, Edwina Lhinghoithem Hanghal in the Tunggal category, and the Male Regu team comprising Kevin, Jon and Altab Uddin Choudhury.

The Nagaland athletes impressed with their coordination, artistic execution and technical skills, bringing early laurels to the state at this national-level competition.

In the Tanding (Sparring) events, Jon has advanced to the final round. Hatneinem Khongsai, Nyia Thono, Avikali V. Sheqi and Liike Kibarni have reached the semi-finals, while Kevin, Akivito Zhimo and Kitenlo K. Thono have progressed to the quarter-finals.

The Khelo India Beach Games is an initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aimed at promoting sporting talent and excellence at the grassroots level. Organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the event features beach and water-based sporting disciplines with participation from athletes across the country.
