Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports Advisor Zale Neikha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for selecting the State Sports Academy, Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima as Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) to strengthen India’s pursuit of excellence in Olympics.
According to the announcement made by Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on June 16, Nagaland was among the eight states where Khelo India State Centre of Excellence will be set up.
Terming it a historic and defining moment for the people of Nagaland, Zale Nekha expressed gratitude for recognizing the state’s efforts and giving the opportunity to Nagaland to upgrade its sporting facilities into a national level centre of excellence.
The Advisor assured that the state’s Youth Resources & Sports Department will strive to give their best in spite of the challenges in bringing about this opportunity into fruition.
Neikha also stated that the support and cooperation of the people will be most important ingredient in the endeavor towards Olympic excellence.
The Advisor also challenged all the sportspersons of the state to take this opportunity and start honing their skills as “this upcoming KISCE will give a platform to train and compete on par at the National level to represent India in the international arena and bring laurels for our state and country.”
