Khongka village in Kiphire district, located at the foothills of Mount Saramati is a beautiful place with the potential to become a major tourist hub.
Surrounded by majestic topography, the village is located some 134 kilometers from Kiphire headquarter. It comes under the Mimi Range of Pungro sub division. The village is near the international border with Myanmar, with people travelling by foot to reach the border villages of Myanmar.
The Chairman of the Khongka Village Council said that the need of the hour is to provide good road connection to the village. One day tourist flow will contribute in boosting our economy, he stated.
He said that that deep in the jungle there is an untouched waterfall and some caves have been discovered in the area as well. Rock bee harvesting is also done in the village. The village area also provides ample opportunity for mountain trekking.
Nestled in the cold weather of Saramati, Khongka village was established in the year 1971 with Mimi being its parent village. The villagers speak the Lungpfurr dialect and are unwaveringly kind and welcoming.
