“Khonoma, the first green village of India, has continually upheld cleanliness of the environment and protecting its natural habitats and inhabitants,” Khonoma Rüffüno stated in a press release. It also added, “Khonoma welcomes everyone to be part of this vital initiative to conserve nature. Particularly when in the village, let us all make a conscious effort to not litter but rather try to maintain the environment as is found in its natural state.”
