Khouchiezie bypass road in Kohima opened for LMVs

Kohima, January 19 (MExN): The newly completed bypass road adjacent to Khouchiezie Local Ground, connecting the South Gate to the North Gate, has been opened for vehicular traffic (LMVs only) with immediate effect, an official order said.

The order, issued by the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Kohima, follows a letter from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kohima, vide No. DEF/KMA/TRF-14/2025-26/2277 dated December 18, 2025, and a spot verification conducted in January 2026.

As per the order, the bypass road will operate strictly as a “one-way route” from the South Gate towards Razhu Point Junction via the North Gate or Khouchiezie Local Ground. Vehicular entry from Razhu Point Junction towards the North Gate of Khouchiezie Local Ground has been restricted.

All street vendors operating in the Razhu Point area, NST area, DC Office Road and Phoolbari have been directed to relocate to designated vending spaces along the bypass road. The Kohima Municipal Council and the Town Street Vending Committee will manage the relocation process at an early date.

Parking of vehicles along the entire stretch of the bypass road has been prohibited. The existing two-wheeler taxi parking at Razhu Point has been shifted to a designated parking area opposite Ozone Café, the order said.
