DIMAPUR, APRIL 28 (MExN): Khushiabill villlage on Monday beat Ikishe village in a penalty shoot out to clinch the trophy of First Chekiye Memorial Football Trophy organised by Highway Area Sumi Sports Association at Ikishe village local ground.
Class -1 contractor, Ghovishe Kiba who was the guest of honour at the valedictory programme pointed out that people coming together during such events should go beyond sporting activities but learn good traits of each other and strengthen the bond. He said it was necessary that people change along with the change of time while keeping their focus and dreams intact and continuously strive to achieve their goals. “You cannot keep dreaming about your dreams but to fulfil it you have to strive,” Ghovishe encouraged the gathering.
Pointing out that government jobs were not the only means for survival, he said sports can also be made a lucrative profession for which people have to start from local levels. Ghovishe appealed the youngsters not to be liabilities to the society but to be assets.
He encouraged HASSA to expand their horizon to higher level by inviting other clubs from the state and northeast as well.
During the programme, the guest of honour also gave away various individual prizes including best goal keeper – Otoka of Ikishe village, best defender – Tohovi of Khushiabill village, best player – Nighato of Khushiabill village, two best disciplined teams – Valley View and Sughuna village, highest scorer –Kakhevi of Mishikito and Vika Chishi of Unity village. The third place was bagged by Mishikito village.
