The Cluster-C leg of the Under-16 Boys Inter-Khelo India Centre (KIC) Football Tournament concluded on Wednesday at Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground, Tuensang, with KIC Longleng emerging as the top team among four participating districts.
The two-day tournament saw teams from Tuensang, Longleng, Noklak, and Shamator competing. On the final day, Longleng registered a 2–0 win over Noklak and followed it up with a dominant 5–1 victory against Tuensang. In the last fixture of the day, Noklak defeated Shamator 5–2.
Based on overall performance, Longleng secured the top rank, followed by Tuensang in second place, Noklak in third, and Shamator in fourth.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Imtikumba Longkumer, LDA, Department of Sports and Youth Resources, Tuensang, who lauded the discipline and enthusiasm displayed by the players. He urged the youth to pursue sports with dedication and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.
Kenongoto, District Sports Officer, Longleng, underscored the importance of grassroots initiatives like the Khelo India programme in nurturing young talent and strengthening community ties.
Mongkochullen Chang, UDA, DSO Tuensang, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of district officials, coaches, and volunteers towards the successful conduct of the tournament.
The final results and team recognitions were presented by Athrong Yimchunger, District Sports Officer, Tuensang, while the benediction was pronounced by Seotingla Sangtam, LDA, DSO Tuensang.
