The Chief Secretary through an order dated July 4 further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to ensure that the responsibilities looked after by Kikheto and team are smoothly taken over.

Meanwhile Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio also congratulated Kikheto for executing given responsibilities in a commendable manner.

“The State Government places on record its appreciation to you and members of your committee for taking upon the tasks with sincere commitment and utmost dedication. All of you have performed in an exemplary manner and you have proved capable leadership,” read a letter dated June 24 addressed to him by the CM.

Kikheto thanks all for cooperation
Meanwhile, addressing media persons in Dimapur on Sunday, Kikheto thanked God for the successful completion of three months of mandated duties in Dimapur. He thanked CM Neiphiu Rio and Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy, IAS for reposing their faith on him and his team and provisioning all required resources as they embarked on the mission to fight the pandemic and facilitate the returnees.

He also appreciated and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Team Dimapur, district administration, police, medical fraternity, various committees, churches, civil societies, NGOs, media fraternity, prayer warriors and all individuals involved in managing the pandemic for their generosity and rendering their dedicated services and selfless sacrifice. “It has been a pleasure to associate and work with all of you during these distressing and challenging times,” he said.

Even as he was relieved of charge in Dimapur, the senior bureaucrat said that the fight against COVID-19 was not yet over and re-emphasized on the need for a disciplined citizenry in this collective fight against the virus.

“If all of us can sincerely adopt the safety protocols by following the three golden principles of social distancing, wear facemask and regularly sanitize/wash hands, then we shall overcome this pandemic with ease,” he said.

Kikheto also said successful fighting against this pandemic cannot be achieved through panic or stigma but careful yet tactful handling of the situation with concerted efforts. He also stressed on the 4Cs of Coordination, Cooperation, Confidence and Contribution during this time. He appealed all not to panic but be bold and called for unity through Corona.

Kikheto said that with limited time and infrastructure, his team did its best to address the comfort of inmates at the quarantine centres. He appealed the returnees to follow hygiene protocols and sincerely follow instructions issued by the government.

With thousands of returnees back home after leaving their jobs outside the state, Kikheto said the government was working out on how to accommodate them in a proper manner and added that providing government job to all of them would not be possible.
