
Kohima, October 13 (MExN): Lions International Peace Poster Contest organized by Lions Club of Kohima (LCK) was held at Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima on October 13 under the theme “Kindness Matters.”
29 students from nine schools in Kohima areas participated in the Contest, a press release from Lion Kaikho, Secretary, LCK informed.
Tejodeno Viphrezo Zao, Class VIII, Littler Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima won the first prize while second prize went to Keneikunu Natso, Class V, North Field Higher Secondary School, Kohima and third prize was given to Riya Sharma, Class VIII, Model Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
Elizabeth Ngully, Joint Secretary, Urban Development, Government of Nagaland who attended the prize distribution ceremony as special guest, said that education was not only imparted within the four walls of classroom but should have extra-curricular activities.
She said that students will develop talents through various extra-curricular activities and that they will be able to face the world.
Ngully also asserted that all participants were winners and added that it is very rare that they were showing what peace was in their minds through art. She further encouraged them to continue to take part in such contests.
LCK President Lion Aroba also expressed his happiness on the large number of students from across Kohima district and thanked school Principals and authorities for allowing their students to take part in such activities.
Former LCK President Lion Tali Jamir also spoke on the occasion. He delivered brief history and activities of the Lions Club International and LCK as well.
The prizes and certificates were distributed by the guest.
