Kiphire district DC, NGOs coordination meet reaffirm on upholding clean election

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kiphire on Friday invited various organizations from Kiphire district including United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP), Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC), Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH), pastors, priests, GBs and contesting candidates from Kiphire district to the forthcoming Nagaland Assembly Election for a co-ordination meet at the DC’s Conference Hall, Kiphire.  

Addressing the meeting, the DC & DEO Kiphire, Mohammad Ali Shihab said the country has given utmost priority to Kiphire district and has selected it as Aspiration District from amongst 115 districts in the country. Stating that the responsibility now lie with the public of Kiphire for uplift of the district, the DC sought the cooperation and support of the general public in maintaining peace and fair election.  

The DC, while appreciating the joint resolution of the USLP and YTC made on February 12, 2018 at Pungro Town on clean election urged the gathering to maintain the record of Kiphire district being regarded as one of the peaceful district during elections.  

Vice president of USLP, K. Tsilise Sangtam, in his speech, appealed the gathering to stand by the joint resolution of USLP and YTC on clean election and to tread upon it seriously, while putting a word of caution that those violating the resolution shall be dealt jointly by USLP and YTC.  

Also speaking at the meeting, YTC vice president appreciated the District Administration and the Police for their tireless effort in controlling law and order issues in the district. He also asked the gathering to join hand in ensuring that the election is peacefully conducted.  

United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) representative, Louis Sangtam who also spoke at the meeting urged the churches to pray for the peaceful conduct of the election.  

Others who spoke at the meeting include president of Kiphire GBs association, chairman of Kiphire Town Wards Union, Lisethrong, Yangseo JD (U) candidate 60 A/C, Khashiho Sangtam BJP candidate 59 A/C, Torechu NPF candidate 60 A/C, executive chairman YTC and president, NPF Kiphire division, Justing T Khatomong.
