KIPHIRE, JULY 1 (MExN): The Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), in collaboration with the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and the Department of Economics and Statistics, Kiphire, organised its first legal awareness and outreach camp under the SAATHI Campaign 2025 at the District Court Complex here on June 30.
The SAATHI Campaign—Survey for Aadhaar and Access to Tracking & Holistic Inclusion—is a nationwide initiative of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) aimed at identifying children in need of care and protection and connecting them with essential rights and entitlements. These include Aadhaar enrolment, school admission, access to welfare schemes, and legal aid.
As part of the campaign, legal awareness camps were held at two major locations in the district: the District Court Complex in Kiphire and the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Pungro Town.
The camps focused on identifying destitute and vulnerable children under 18 years of age and assisting them with Aadhaar enrolment, issuance of Birth Certificates, and Permanent Residential Certificates (PRC). These steps were intended to facilitate access to government schemes, educational benefits, and legal entitlements.
According to organisers, around 85 children were enrolled for Aadhaar, 46 were issued Birth Certificates, and 39 received Permanent Residential Certificates during the outreach, marking a significant stride in legal and digital inclusion.
Parents, guardians, and community stakeholders from various areas of Kiphire district actively participated in the initiative.
The programme was conducted with support from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, the Department of Economics and Statistics, the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, and the Kiphire DLSA. Officials said the coordinated multi-departmental effort ensured seamless facilitation and immediate service delivery.
The legal camp is part of a broader push to ensure that vulnerable children are not left behind in accessing their rights. Officials described the event as a stepping stone toward long-term empowerment and inclusion.
The success of the initiative has laid the foundation for more such camps under the SAATHI Campaign, with the objective of strengthening grassroots legal outreach and building an inclusive society.
