Kiphire faring ‘poorly’ as per development indicators

The Kiphire District Planning Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting at DC Conference Hall on September 8. Addressing the meeting, MLA & Chairman DPDB Kiphire, T Yangseo Sangtam stressed on importance of development within the district and pointed out that as per the “development indicators Kiphire was faring poorly.” He asked all stakeholders to join hands and work together for the overall upliftment of Kiphire.

Appreciating the officers posted in Kiphire for implementing various development schemes and programmes for the benefits of the public, the MLA called upon them to put more effort so that their posting will be a blessing and Kiphire will also develop at par with the rest of the other districts.

Stating that development activities cannot take place without active support and cooperation from the landowners, he called upon the landowners not interfere in development activities in the interest of the district.

He further informed that Kiphire was witnessing drought like situation for which he appeal to officers especially from Agri & Allied Department to assist farmers in coping with the situation.

Speaking in the meeting, DC & DPDB Vice Chairman Kiphire, Wati Aier cautioned the citizens again taking COVID-19 for granted and urge to strictly adhere to COVID guidelines.

During the meeting DPDB Kiphire also facilitated Cia Bose from Saramati Modern High School for securing Top 13 position from the district in HSLC exam and Linkhianshe from Loyala Higher Secondary School Kiphire for being the subject topper in HSSLC exam. 

Meanwhile, the Best Officer DPDB Attendance Award was handed to L Meshu Khiam, SS NST, Phenrongwi Zeliang, DLRSO and Z Tsangkhuchu DWO/CDPO. Presentation for the month was presented by Land Record & Survey, Horticulture and Medical department on National Tobacco Control Program.
