With the government announcing new SOPs on sending and receiving of returnees between districts, Deputy Commissioner & Chairperson District Task Force (DTF), Kiphire, Sarita Yadav today convened a DTF meeting to apprise the members of the new SOPs.
Chairing the meeting, Sarita Yadav requested the civil society organizations to educate and sensitize the public so that returnees are not stigmatized in any way.
The DC pointed out that there was no need to panic as returnees coming to the district will be sent only after test results are received as per the latest SOP. She therefore urged upon the public to extend help and cooperation towards the administration, police and medical staff.
Assuring that the district administration, police and medical staff are doing everything to fight against the pandemic, Yadav called upon the public to be responsible in adhering and abiding by the COVID-19 guidelines.
The DC thanked the civil society organizations and Churches for the support and cooperation rendered towards the administration, police and medical staff.
It was further informed that since the new district hospital has been converted into a COVID-19 hospital, the OPD has been shifted to the old district hospital from where all normal services will be provided.
Additional SP, Thsürhosie Kajiri meanwhile emphasised on the need to welcome the returnees without any stigmatization and discrimination. “Just because returnees are coming from red zone don't doesn't mean that they are bringing the disease. We should rather make them feel welcome,” he said.
He further informed that the returnees will be made to sign a bond to make sure that they stay in the quarantine centers. He further asked the returnees to cooperate with the police.
The DTF meeting decided that all returnees will be quarantined at Kiphire as per the SOPs.
As per the latest SOPs, the transport of returnees across districts will be done after proper plans and coordination is done well in advance as per the laid down protocols.
The DTF meanwhile also welcomed the new Superintendent of Police for Kiphire, Muthasuyü, NPS.
