Kiphire: Govt departments, civil societies urged to collaborate for development

KIPHIRE, NOVEMBER 13 (MExN): The Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting on November 12, 2024, at the DPDB Hall in Kiphire, chaired by Advisor for Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guards, Civil Defence, and Relief & Rehabilitation, Kiusumew Yimkhiung.

In his address, Advisor Yimkhiung urged various departments and civil societies to collaborate for the smooth functioning of administration and the overall development of Kiphire District, an Aspirational district. He emphasized the importance of officers’ attendance at DPDB meetings, warning that irregularities and absenteeism would lead to disciplinary action. He also expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of officers working towards the district’s progress.

Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer briefed the members about preparations for the upcoming visits of the Union Finance Minister and the Governor, including the inauguration of a bank at Longmatra.

The meeting reviewed several proposals, including the construction of footsteps at GMS Longya Ward in Kiphire Town, which was forwarded for approval. Additionally, the board approved the establishment of the Officers’ Club in Kiphire and agreed to a proposal for hosting a DPDB Meeting-cum-Advent Christmas Celebration in December.

The meeting also featured discussions on social issues, with EAC Takatemjen Pongen speaking on the theme, Invest to prevent violence against women & girl child. District Child Protection Officer, NS Khaikho, spoke about consultations with key stakeholders on child welfare, while Project Director of DRDA Tuensang, T Tako Toshi Jamir, and ADC Longdiba L. Sangtam also shared insights.

The DC reminded the LRSO Kiphire to survey land for an Officers’ Colony, as many officials are currently residing in rented accommodations. Officers were also instructed to remain stationed in the district for effective administration.
