Kiphire: Khongjiri Students’ Union celebrates 25 years

Kiphire, January 14 (MExN): The Khongjiri Students’ Union (KSU) silver jubilee celebration cum 58th Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) Federal Assembly was conducted at Khongjiri Village under Kiphire district on January 10-11.

The silver jubilee celebration was held under the theme ‘Resilience and Radiance’ on January 10 with MLA and Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guards, Civil Defence, Relief and Rehabilitation advisor S Kiusumew as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Kiusumew stressed on the importance of unity and education and called upon the community to pursue for the same to be at par with the rest of the society.

Guest of Honour, Yithachu Thurr, EAC Khongsa, in his speech underscored the need and importance for skill development and encouraged the students’ community to discover where they are gifted and interested so as to succeed.

Ningjimong, Founding President, KSU; Keyoungkhum, President YAA and Makhezho, Executive Chairman YTC also spoke on the occasion. Ningsangwu Bomrr, President, KSU delivered the presidential address while welcome address was delivered by Azho Paul, Chairman, Silver Jubilee Planning Committee. Khamkiumong L John, Vice President, KSU proposed vote of thanks. The programme was moderated by Salenthong and Latsu A.

Other highlights of the event included special presentations by Apentsu Merr, Moya Village Students’ Union and Pungro Town Students’ Union.

Later in the afternoon, a seminar on skill development on the theme "Skill Development and Employment Worldwide” was conducted by Emporium, Nagaland.

To commemorate the occasion, a souvenir was also released by the guest of honour and the monolith was unveiled by the special guest. YAA 58th Federal Assembly was conducted at Khongjiri village on January 11.
