Kiphire medical dept exposure trip to Longmatra

Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): The Medical Department of Kiphire District had an exposure trip to Longmatra Sub-center under Communitization on June 4, 2011. Altogether there were 40 participants.
A press note issued by Pezanguno Celine Secü, media officer, CMO office, Kiphire informed that the medical team was led by Dr. I. Sungit Jamir, Chief Medical Officer accompanied by Dr. Khriesilie, Dy. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kibang, District Immunization Officer, Dr. Tali, District TB Officer, Dr. Khruto, District Malaria Officer, P. Ritse, District Program Manager, NRHM, IEC personnel, Nurses and VHC members took part in the trip.
A short program was held where all the officials from the Medical department took the time sharing in their respective fields. Welcoming the participants Dr. I. Sungit Jamir, CMO, Kiphire requested them to work towards community development especially in the health sector and co-relation with other department which is very important.
Dr. Khriesi, Dy. CMO gave a brief talk on communitization on the goal, duties and functions of different health committees. He also stressed on how the village health committees could help in the prevention of diseases and promotion of health through education and participation of the community. Dr. Khruto, District Malaria Officer, highlighted on the significance on the month of June 2011 observed as Malaria Month.
The note also mentioned that a discussion was held with the VHC members present and also with the nurses. The participants shared their experience, problems they face and also success stories. Suggestions were put forward, doubts were cleared. The VHC chairman Longmatra thanked the medical department for making such trip possible and hope to have more of such in the days to come. The note further stated that the exposure trip was a great success and had a positive and constructive approach in communicating and disseminating information.
