Kiphire medical staff to go on 48-hour protest

Dimapur, May 1 (MExN): The medical staff of the District Hospital Kiphire (DHK) will express their resentment of “frequent manhandling and use of abusive words against the doctors of DHK without rhyme and reason, including the unfortunate incidents on the night of April 28 last by some unscrupulous elements.” This was stated in a release from Chairman of Action Committee DHK, H. Tsipongchum and Secretary of Action Committee DHK, Khusutho.

To register its protest, the staff will wear black badges for 48 hours with effect from 6:00 am of May 2 to 6:00 am of May 3, “without hampering the normal functioning of the hospital”. Referring to a meeting of leaders and NGOs of Kiphire on May 3, the Committee has said that “the protest may intensify is appropriate measures are not taken to create a congenial working environment for the hospital staff by the concerned authority/organization.” It has requested all staff of the DHK to “bear with them for the inconvenience”.
