Kiphire: New DC’s bungalow completed at cost of Rs 360 lakh

Government of Nagaland presents it to the people as ‘Christmas gift

After years of waiting for the completion of the new Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow which started in the 2014-15, the Government of Nagaland today finally presented it to the people of Kiphire as ‘Christmas gift’. 

Giving brief technical report, Er Sungtiba Amer, Executive Engineer CAWD said that the building was conceptualized during 2013-14. The building is G+1 RC structure area with a total of 8069 Sq.ft. The estimated cost of the building was 360 lakh under SPA project by CKL Construction Firm and the stipulated time of completion was 24 months. 

Speaking at the inaugural, Advisor for NSDMA & CAWD, Kazheto Kinimi said that as the building has now become the public property of Kiphire district, it is in their hands and the concerned DC to upkeep the building as their own. 

Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, NSMDC Ltd, V Kashiho Sangtam said that it was a red letter day for the people of Kiphire and expressed hope in the CAWD department that more such developments will be delivered by the department even in days to come. While mentioning about the residence of heads of offices quarters in Pungro and ADC Seyochung many Offices and quarters are in deplorable conditions, Sangtam urged them to look into the matter. He also appealed all the HODs posted in Kiphire to be more sincere and to do atleast something that will benefit the people.

The Minister also asserted that all the developmental activities envisioned under 'Aspirational District' is getting implemented and assured that till the 'Aspirational District' programme is in force, the government and department will give special focus to Kiphire district.

Delivering his speech, the newly sworn in MLA from Pungro-Kiphire constituency, T Yanhseo Sangtam said that it was a privilege for him to be part of such an auspicious event and extended gratitude to CAWD for completing the construction on time. Dwelling on the development deficit in Kiphire, Yanhseo assured that as per his election promise his main priority will be to bring about peace, tranquility and development in the district irrespective of party affiliation and region.

Asking the people of Kiphire to be partners in development, Yanhseo called upon the people to not only take care of new DC's bungalow but all other government properties as it their own. 

A DIPR report stated that Commissioner Nagaland, Rovilatuo Mor, IAS in his short speech expressed appreciation to the Advisor for giving his priority in completing the half done DC's Bungalow in the four Districts. He appealed to Minister V Kashiho Sangtam, newly Elected MLA and the people of Kiphire District as well that the DC's Bungalow and DC Office represents the District, and reflects the image of the District in so many ways. He urged the public to continue to uphold, sustain and to maintain the image and dignity of the DC's Bungalow and Office in the interest of the whole District. He opined that with the new DC and DC's Bungalow Kiphire District will move forward with all those blessing.

The programme was chaired by Chumbenthung Merry, EAC Kiphire, dedicatory prayer by Dr Apise and vote of thanks was done by James T Khulu SDO (C) Kiphire and welcome address by DC Kiphire, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS.

Later in the afternoon Advisor accompanied by Minister, MLA, Commissioner and Engineers CAWD inspected the site of DC's bungalow.
