Kiphire observes world mental health day

KIPHIRE, October 13 (MExN): The District Administration and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) observed World Mental Health Day 2025. The event, held at the DPDB Conference Hall under the theme “Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” was organised in collaboration with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Brain Health Initiative (NITI Aayog), Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya.

DC Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, who attended as the special guest, emphasised the need to create a platform for all line departments, stakeholders, and students to collaborate in reducing the stigma around mental health, stated a DIPR report.

The DC Kihire and Tsurenshe L, the reigning Miss Kiphire, also felicitated the winners of a poster-making competition held in two categories to promote mental health awareness through art. In the Higher Secondary School category, Alumdi Sangtam and Azila L Anar, both of Class 12 GHSS, were declared first and second, respectively. In the High School category, Z. Hopong (Class 10 GHSS), Tsulula (Class 8 GHSS), and Athrise (Class 9 GHSS) secured the first, second, and third positions.

Officials including EAC (HQ) Takatemjen Pongen, Medical Superintendent Wathsutho Nyuthe, and psychologists from the District Hospital and the Brain Health Initiative, emphasized the day's objective to raise global awareness, combat stigma, and advocate for better access to mental health care, even in rural areas.

The programmw featured a talk on “Save Minds Strong Hearts” by Miss Kiphire 2025 and was moderated by Tsasela from the DLSA.
