Kiphire, July 4 (MExN): The Golden Jubilee celebrations of St Peter’s Church and Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS) at Kiphire were held on June 29 and 30 with Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop, Diocese of Kohima, Nagaland as main celebrant.

Priests, religious, leaders and the faithful from different places in Nagaland attended the events, according to a press release from LHSS Principal Rev Fr Dr Joe Mariadhas on Monday. 

The Eucharistic celebration and the procession was the highlight of the day as the faithful walked through the town witnessing their faith. The leaders felicitated the Bishop and the other guests who had come to participate in the event, the release stated.

On June 30, Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly T Yangseo was the special guest for the LHSS Golden Jubilee celebration while the Bishop was the guest of honour for the programme. The special guest unveiled the monolith and Bishop blessed the monolith.

On the occasion, T Yangseo spoke on the need to be competitive and work hard to build the future as leaders of the society. The school has produced various personalities in diverse fields who are leaders of the society today. The school has excelled in scholastic and co-scholastic areas and has made remarkable achievement the field of education, he said. He also congratulated the management, staff and students of the school for the varieties of items performed on the stage.

According to the release, Most Rev Dr James Thoppil emphasises on the need to promote a society where everyone finds a rightful place. He explained about the hardships and troubles that the pioneers had taken fifty years ago and said that the fruit of their labour is seen in the form quality education and commendable results in the Board Examinations.

He urged the people to cooperate with the school management and bring all round development in all aspects. He congratulated the staff and students for their hard work that has made the event successful.

The colourful event that marked the golden jubilee was witnessed by dignitaries, guests, invitees, parents and students.

It was a day to remember the past and to celebrate the event with hope for a bright future, the release stated.
