Kiphire strives to benefit from GSA

The Department of Rural Development Agency (DRDA) today celebrated the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan at Hopongkyu Memorial hall with K. Ramnikhant, IAS, ADC Kiphire as the guest speaker and Dr B.K Pandey as the resource person.

Addressing the gathering, the ADC Kiphire said that the dream of the Prime Minister of India is to develop rural villages but nothing has been done so far, therefore, to revamp the policies the celebration is being held all over the country. Sharing about the various policies of the scheme under the department, the guest speaker informed that there are instances where villagers have electricity connection but no light connection and hopeful the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan celebration will create awareness amongst the grass root people. The ADC also said, “As a district we have to come up with some successful stories and it should be the joint effort of all.”  

While addressing the gathering, Dr B.K Pandey said that more than 21000 villages across the country are identified as ‘most backward villages’ and out of the 21000 villages, Kiphire has 41 villages. Therefore, government is giving priority to these villages, he added.  

He also shared on various components under the scheme and called upon the gathering to go and share the knowledge with others in order to avail the benefit of the programme.  

Setsathong, PD DRDA while giving the keynote address said the celebration may end this week but it is the duty of all to strengthen the panchayat and promote rural household and rural areas. He also called upon the gathering to search and know ones benefit from the department.  

During this celebration, the department has conducted cleanliness drive in various pockets of the selected villages.
