Kiphire Sumi Hoho wants fresh proposal on delimitation

Kiphire, March 22 (MExN): Kiphire Sumi Hoho forwards to the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire a petition calling for fresh proposal for readjustment of 59 A/c. The Sumi general public held a meeting on March 13 where the points in the representation were resolved upon.

A note from P Vikheto, vice-president of the Hoho informed that Sumi villages under Seyochung circle comprise of Shothumi ‘A’ and ‘B’, Phisami, Lukhami Yangzitong-B and Sitimi circle. The distance from Kiphire via Sitimi circle to these villages are around 8-100 kilometers and from Kiphire via Kichang is about 35-50 kilometers whereas the distance from Seyochung to the aforementioned village “is hardly 8-15 km.”

Secondly, the constituency is “topographically, socially, culturally and linguistically more convenient” to Sitimi Seyochung rather than with other circles, it sated. It also made mention that the traditional name for the 59th A/c is “Sitimi-Seyochung”

The note also mentioned the Delimitation Commission’s “guidance” that means of transport and communication and contiguity of areas to avoid breaking up of administrative units. In this context, if the government could adjust as per “our request” and suggestions, then it would not “create any misunderstanding among the different tribes residing under Kiphire.”
