Kiphire villages to restrict heavy vehicles

Kiphire, March 29 (MExN): The joint councils of Moya, Kiuro and Amikioro villages under Kiphire district have resolved that heavy vehicles will be restricted within its jurisdiction from June 1 for maintenance of road.  

In a joint statement, the three villages asserted that the deplorable road condition in the area had prevented government officials from being able to visit the villages for developmental activities, thus resulting in a great loss for the people of the area.  

The joint statement was issued by M. Thsesong, Hd. GB Moya; Tsalimong, VCC Moya; Y. Tsasukiu, Hd. GB Kiuro; Likhomong, VCC Kiuro; T. Chuba, Hd. GB Amikioro; and Kurakmong, VCC Amikioro village.  

However, the joint village councils stated that heavy vehicles have been exempted for two months – i.e., April and May, to ferry timber (Fanta) and Pine wood.  

A heavy fine shall be imposed upon the defaulters and the vehicle will be seized by the joint councils, it further warned.
