Kire appeals people of Jakhama to share water

Jakhama | April 9 : Commenting on the acute shortage of water faced in Kohima, Director of General Police (DGP), K.Kire, IPS said that the increase of water scarcity grows along with the increase in population because of which talks are on, about shifting the capital Kohima due to this unsolved problem. Kire was at the inauguration of the Porütso Kethüki (Dormitory) and Tsiikhwe (Tower/Thehouba) this morning here at Jakhama village. Kire also extended his sincere appeal to the people of Jakhama to tie up with the state government over the issue of water scarcity and share the water in Kohima town as the excess water from the southern region flows towards Assam unused.
Addressing the gathering, Kire acknowledged the villagers for the construction, signifying the true sense of unity in the community. Also, highlighting the importance of sports, Kire said a good sportsperson always remains healthy and his efforts earn befitting pride to his/her family and the society as well, and through which the sportsperson can also earn sufficient for a livelihood. Kire, urged upon the parents to encourage their children to get more into sports, while also maintaining constant concentration in their academic studies.
Earlier, Kaisa Rio released souvenir “Porütso Seweda” while the programme was marked by traditional blessings, feast and entertainment. MLA & Chairman NKVIB Dr.Nicky Kire, government officials, village elders were among the host of dignitaries at the inauguration programme.
