Kire opens three-Court Indoor Badminton Stadium

Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): The Director General of Police, Nagaland K. Kire, IPS inaugurated a three court indoor badminton stadium at Police complex, Chumukedima on October 5, 2011. A press note issued by ST Sangtam, IPS, ADG (Adm) & PRO stated that this Stadium is considered the only three-Court Indoor Badminton Stadium in the state and perhaps one of the best in the entire Northeast India.
With the inauguration of the stadium, a tournament between different Badminton clubs of Kohima, Dimapur and Chumukedima was held. Contest was held for veteran men’s doubles and mixed doubles, where the following teams came out victorious: men’s doubles (Veteran) champions- Bendangyanger and Temsu Ao (Evening Club, Kohima), runners up- L. Singit and Arep (Evening Club, Kohima), mixed doubles:  champions- K. Kire and Aren, runners up- Akum Pongen amd Uma Tamang.
The note also stated that earlier, in the morning, K. Kire, IPS DGP Nagaland has also inaugurated a two storied sports barracks for housing the police sports personnel who represents the State in various disciplines. Also, the Police Department had also purchased five numbers of horses and its stables are constructed and maintained at Chumukedima Police complex. Also, 28 personnel from 15th NAP (IT) Mahila BN won the following medals in All Nagaland Taekwondo competition 2011: Gold-10, Silver-5, Bronze-13.
