
Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): C-Edge College installed Kiremwati as Chair on March 21. President of the college, Er Moa Aier offered an introduction about Chair being installed in various universities and educational institutes across the globe, adding the concept of installation of chair dates way back to 176 AD.
R. Ezung, former Secretary, Government of Nagaland and the guest speaker for the day, had accolades for his former teacher, Kiremwati. He recalled being taught by the man about half a century ago and testified how Kiremwati imbibed the fear of God in his life and works. Ezung called Kiremwati “one of the greatest achievers in Nagaland” and that he taught with a missionary’s zeal.
Meanwhile, Kiremwati attributed glory to God and acknowledged that the unseen hand of God led his humble life as a teacher. He served as the Director of Higher and Technical Education in 1983 and also served as the Pro Vice Chancellor of North East Hill University (NEHU) in 1986, the first Naga to attain that status. He continued contributing to education in various capacities even after many years of formal retirement, the college said in a press release. He also served as the Chairman of Nagaland Education Commission in 1999 and resigned as the Education Consultant in 2005.
Former Secretary of ABAM and Missionary at large, Rev. Kari Longchar and also a former student of Kiremwati said the dedicatory prayer for the chair and also pronounced the benediction.
The programme was led by Vitsusie Savino, HoD of Sociology Department, while a special song was presented by Lipokmarla and Imsuakum, Assistant Professors of Management & Economics Department respectively. The college informed that the programme was attended by several former students of Kiremwati who themselves were accomplished personalities, Members of Board of Governor, families of Kiremwati and the faculty and student of the college.
