Kiruphema Youth Organization (KYO) Nagaland and Senapati Sporting Club Manipur today emerged the champion title of men and women category respectively of the 9th Kohima Open Volleyball Tournament 2022, which concluded today at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima under the aegis of Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA).
 
KYO wins men category
KYO defeated strong opponent Jorhat Volleyball Club Assam with a set of 3-2 in the finals.

KYO received a cash prize of Rs. 70,000 along with trophy and citation while runner –up Jorhat Volleyball Club has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 along with trophy and citations.

Jayanta Borah of Jorhat Volleyball Club has been declared as the player of the tournament (Men) and pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 3000.

Losing semi finalists (Men Category) BKK Kezo Town and Michazou Mima have been awarded with Rs. 10,000 each.
 
Senapati SC wins women category
Senapati Sporting Club defeated Sodinie Kidima with a set of 3-2 in the finals to emerge the champion title.

Winning the champion title, Senapati Sporting Club has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 along with trophy and citation.

Runner up Sodinie Kidima awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 along with trophy and citation.

Beveinai of Senapati Sporting Club has been declared as the player of the tournament (Women) and received Rs. 3000.
 
‘Take up the sports as a career and not as a mere hobby’
Earlier, gracing the closing function, Nagaland Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) chairman Dr. Kekhrie Yhome challenged the sports lovers to take up the sports as a career and not as a mere hobby.

Dr. Yhome handed over prize to the winners.

Earlier, Zhopovi Zecho, District Sport Officer (DSO) Kohima acted as the match patron of the first semi final (Men) and Er.Lhoubeizo Kesiyie, President, Angami Sports Association (ASA) for second semi final.

Teisobou Sekhose, joint director, Youth Resources & Sports (YRS) Nagaland also graced the women finals as the match patron.

The closing function was compered by Viwhekhonuo Vielie. Special number was presented by Kevingunyii Mere.
Vote of thanks was proposed by KDVA secretary Neivikhotuo Vielie.

Meanwhile, KDVA thanked the prize sponsors; Lhousier Angami (Men champion), T.
