Chümoukedima, June 3 (MExN): The Kiyevi Village Council (KVC) today alleged that some intruders from neighbouring villages, "under the shelter of security forces," have been illegally constructing houses and undertaking agricultural activities in the disputed areas on a daily basis.
This is in total violation of the Government standing order wherein all the parties concerned were ordered to maintain the status quo, and no activities whatsoever for any development or construction shall be carried out in the disputed area till the case is settled amicably, stated a press release from Botovi Zhimomi, Head GB Kiyevi Village, and Akato Zhimomi, Chairman, KVC.
In compliance with the orders/directives issued by the concerned Government, the KVC, GBs, and bonafide residents of the village have been maintaining the status quo to date, it maintained.
According to the KVC, the council had intimated the concerned authorities regarding the violation of status quo by the neighbouring villages; however, no action has been taken against the miscreants.
Besides, no steps were taken to amicably settle the matter, and as a result, the villagers of Kiyevi have been undergoing untold hardships as they are not able to carry out cultivation in agricultural land for their livelihood, it claimed.
Accordingly, the KVC stated that the council, GBs, and villagers have no option left except to undertake agricultural activities in the agricultural land. "In the event of any untoward incidents occurring, the Government of Nagaland shall be held responsible," it added.
