Kiyevi village cautions incursions or trespassing

Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): The Kiyevi village has condemned the alleged “instances of illegal trespass into Kiyevi village land and incessant destruction of forest and plantation” which has taken place in Kiyevi village land and in several other neighbouring villages of Dimapur district during the past few years.

Terming the incidents as “act of direct intimidation, provocation and shamelessness,” Y Botovi Zhimomi, Hd GB of Kiyevi Village in a press release condemned “these recent mindless acts of illegal trespass in the form of indiscriminate forest cutting, destruction of plantations and paddy fields at Kiyevi village land.”

The GB stated that there have been instances where people were “lured to believe by some anti-social elements that they are distributing free land and taking registration fee from them.” The GB therefore, reminded that the “so called free land does not exist but it belongs to Kiyevi village.”

Meanwhile, the Kiyevi Village Council has also requested those taking part in destruction and distribution of land to refrain from such activities to avoid any untoward incidents in the near future.

“The incessant incursions into Kiyevi village land is being perpetrated indiscriminately by cutting down several areas of village forest destruction of plantations and damaging several portions of paddy fields with malicious purpose of intimidation, destruction of natural resources and with the attempt to steal Kiyevi village land,” it stated.

The GB said that these incidents have “disturbed the very peace of the people of Kiyevi village and a sense of insecurity, tension and fear has been created by the perpetrators and if unchecked, the situation is bound to escalate into unwanted confrontations and clashes.”

The Kiyevi village, therefore, cautioned against “any incursions or trespassing by any outsiders into Kiyevi village land and any acts of illegal entry, forest cutting activities or any other activities without the knowledge of the village authorities of Kiyevi village will be considered dangerous and hostile which will be dealt with according as per the laws in force.”
