KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 23 (MExN): The Kohima Longmisa Senso Telongjem (KLST) celebrated its Golden Jubilee on Saturday at Molu Ki, Kohima, under the theme “Senso Tsungsu Medem”—a call for unity and teamwork in the pursuit of common goals.

Speaking at the event, Lanutoshi Jamir, Additional Director of Food and Civil Supplies, highlighted the historical achievements of Longmisa village, established in 1509. He described the period from 1509 to 1964 as the village’s “Golden Age,” during which villagers fostered strong relationships with neighboring communities, ending hostilities and promoting cooperation.

Jamir expressed concern over the village’s progress from 1964 to the present, noting a lack of political leaders, bureaucrats, and entrepreneurs emerging from Longmisa in recent decades. He urged the community to reflect on these shortcomings and reignite a sense of teamwork and unity. “Let this jubilee be a turning point to carry Longmisa Village to new heights,” he said, before releasing the Golden Jubilee Souvenir.

One of KLST’s founding members, TT Imdaksashi, recalled the hardships faced when the union was founded in 1975, emphasizing the importance of unity during difficult times. He also praised the current achievements of KLST members, including many government officers and employees, and encouraged the community to have a shared vision for the future.

Longmisa Village Council Chairman Merensosang Jamir exhorted members to support one another rather than focus on weaknesses. He also spoke on the importance of preserving the mother tongue, stressing its role in maintaining cultural identity.

The event featured speeches from Longmisa Senso Telongjem leaders from Mokokchung and Dimapur, along with cultural presentations, including a jubilee song by the Kohima Longmisatsur Telongjem. The Golden Jubilee Resolution was read by Er. K. Wati.

KLST President Arentemjen delivered the welcome address, and the vote of thanks was given by Toshimenba.
