KMC Administrator issues directives

Kohima, July 24 (MExN): Administrator, Kohima Municipal Council, Kethosituo Sekhose in a notice has informed the public under Kohima municipality regarding out-letting water directly from roofs and terraces into footpaths and roads, causing hardships to the public (pedestrians), while also damaging the footpaths and roads. He therefore directed owners of buildings to construct and provide proper drainage system so that waters are drained directly into the drains. The notification further stated that necessary actions will be taken within a period of 14 (fourteen) days from the date of issue of the order. Sekhose also cautioned that defaulters shall be penalized as per section 471 of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001.  

The Kohima Municipal Council has also informed the public that the pipes laying/blocking the drains/nullah within KMC jurisdiction should be cleared/re-aligned on or before July 31 as it has been observed that due to this menace, drainages are blocked/choked, road surfaces damaged and even cause landslide. Failing to remove or relocate within the stipulated time, KMC will remove/take action against the defaulters as per the law, stated Kethosituo Sekhose, KMC Administrator.
