KMC arrangement for temporary dumping site

Kohima: The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed all wards under its jurisdiction that temporary dumping site has been arranged for disposing of garbage at Zogazou ‘P’ Khel , on route to Rusoma village from February 15.
Kohima Municipal Council, CEO Elizabeth Ngully in a notice stated that due to several complaints received in regard to earlier dumping site at Dzucha Pekhro by D’ Khel Council against the ward vehicles, KMC has worked out certain conditions for strict supervision and monitoring by the panchayats and sanitation committees.

The Council has directed the panchayats and sanitation committees to strictly enforce certain “point”. The ward vehicles should dump the garbage only in the designated site and not dump the rubbish on the roadside leading to the temporary dumping site.

All ward vehicles should be properly covered as there have been many complaints earlier regarding littering of waste from the vehicles. The road leading to the new temporary dumping site has many diversions. Therefore, KMC will be putting up road signs for the drivers to follow leading the site.

Collection of firewood or any forest produce is strictly prohibited. Defaulter will be sternly penalized and action would be taken. All ward sanitary vehicles shall report to the KMC toll gate near the BSF camp. This will be made mandatory for every trip. Further, if any complaint is received against a ward sanitary vehicle, KMC will seize the vehicle and stop the ward concerned will be prevented from dumping its garbage at the designated site.
