KMC asked to continue with open tender system

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 16 (DIPR): A joint meeting between the District Administration, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) and Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lithrongla Tongpi at DC’s Conference Hall on August 16.

The meeting discussed that the tender system for permits for importing essential commodities to the municipal area was not good for the market in particular and the public in general and that it should be done away with. In view of the discussions, the KMC was asked to continue with the old system of open tender until a concrete direction is received from the Government. It was also decided to write to the Government on the issue of tendering of essential commodities in view of the negative impact of tendering of coupons on prices of essential commodities. The meeting also decided that traders will inform the administration and police if anybody forces them to buy their coupons and that necessary action will be taken against such perpetrators. The KVYO was requested to keep on hold its proposed actions in view of the positive deliberations.
