Kohima, October 10 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council has directed all footpath vendors, particularly from TCP gate junction to New Secretariat Junction and Classic Island to CRPF camp (Lirie), to stop plying their trade there immediately. “Even after several notice the footpath vendors are still selling their goods on the footpath which is causing inconveniences to both the pedestrians and vehicular traffic,” stated KMC Administrator in a press release.
The KMC cautioned that any footpath vendor violating this notice during inspection, would have their goods seized without any further notice and penalized as per the provision of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001. It added that the seized items will be distributed to orphanage homes, old age homes, jail and mental hospital. The KMC meanwhile also informed that the rate of pork has been enhanced to Rs. 220 per kg within its jurisdiction with effect from October 4. The rate is according to the resolution of a meeting held on September 26 and partial modification an earlier KMC order dated April 4, 2017. Subject to fulfilment of the terms and conditions as agreed on October 3, henceforth, there shall be no separate rates for any so-called local pork or any other categories, it said. The KMC cautioned that defaulters would be penalized as per relevant provisions of the law and advised the public to report any contraventions to the KMC for immediate remedial measures.
