KMC inspects landslide affected areas in Kohima

The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) today undertook inspection to multiple landslide affected areas triggered by heavy rainfall in and around Kohima.

The KMC team led by Chairperson Neikhozo Suokhrie also inspected the drainage system in the city.

The Council inspected the collapsed boundary wall at PHQ side wherein three vehicles suffered damage. It also inspected drainage system at Box Cutting area near 2nd World War Cemetery wherein a two wheeler was washed away recently. The KMC suggested periodical clearance and maintenance of the drainage system.

The KMC also inspected the drainage system at Y Junction wherein unattended drainage blockage caused water logging. The team also inspected landslide affected area in Bayavu and High School Area.

Later, talking to media persons, Suokhrie said that the KMC will be submitting its findings to the state government for necessary measures and assistance to the affected citizens.

Meanwhile, KMC Deputy Chairperson Khrielievi Chusi stated that the entry point of the pedestrian footbridge at Razhu Point will be restored once the ongoing building construction at the adjacent side is completed.
