KMC to impose fines for flouting safety measures

The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has reminded people of Kohima that wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing is mandatory while spitting in public places is strictly prohibited. 


KMC Administrator, Kovi Meyase cautioned that anyone found violating these norms will be penalized. First time violation for any of the criterion will lead to a fine of Rs 100; second offence will invite fine of Rs 200 and on the third offence, punishment will be given as per MHA guidelines, violation will be punishable under Disaster Management Act section 51(b). 

 

Directs wet markets and slaughter houses 
The KMC meanwhile also directed all wet markets and slaughter houses within its jurisdiction to collect all the water/fluid in a proper designated place and sanitise the same. They have also been directed to operate as per the FSSAI guidelines.  Any trader violating these directives will be fined Rs 500 for the first instance, Rs 1,000 for the second instance and cancellation of trade license for the third instance. 


“It has been learnt that there has been an instance of transmission of Corona Virus through wet market/slaughter houses especially those dealing with fresh meat, poultry and raw fishes in other parts of the world,” KMC Administrator Kovi Meyase stated.
