Kohima, August 13 (MExN): A joint meeting of the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) and the Association of Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayats (AKMWP) was held on August 13 under the aegis of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC).
The meeting was held with a view to initiate ways and means to ameliorate the plight of the local farmers during this pandemic period, KMC Administrator Kovi Meyase informed.
The following decisions were taken in the meeting:
i) The Kohima Municipal Council shall, after obtaining due approval of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, provide space at the Kohima local ground towards the basketball area for farmers to bring in their local vegetables and such other products for sale.
ii) The AYO shall inform and coordinate with all the ranges under the district to transport their products to the earmarked location at the local ground.
iii) The AKMWP shall inform all the wards to assign their respective representatives who shall be responsible to buy and collect the requirements of the ward from the local ground.
iv) The earmarked location in the local ground shall remain open from 6 am onwards every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of the week for this purpose.
v) Entry shall be permitted from the northern side of the local ground only for this purpose.
vi) This mechanism shall come into effect from Tuesday, August 18 till such time as permissible by the Deputy Commissioner.
