
Kohima, June 5 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) today reiterated its earlier office order that waste is to be disposed either in sanitation vehicles or in designated commercial waste collection points only.
Littering, dumping of waste in drains, vacant plots, blocking of drain and littering during construction activities arc all deemed as illegal.
All Ward Panchayats/ Councils and Ward/Colony/Sector Sanitation Committees have been requested to check illegal dumping of garbage in drains, littering and blocking of drains during construction.
The following penalty may be realized from offenders; First Offence: Rs. 1000. Second Offence: Rs. 2000 and After second offence: Rs. 3000.
50% of the penalty can be given to the informer and 50 % may be kept with the Ward.
Proper receipt is to be issued and record to be maintained for realizing such penalties.
Month wise report to be intimated to KMC in December each year.
The amount collected may be utilized for meeting sanitation related expenses within the ward/ colony/sector.
