Imphal, June 26 (NNN): AB Mathur, Interlocutor for the peace talks with the two umbrella bodies – Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United People’s Front (UPF) – arrived in Imphal today.
The reason(s) for his visit to Manipur is not clear. Reports said that Mathur will also visit Churachandpur in south Manipur.
Meanwhile, the Interlocutor for KNO and UPF talks met Manipur Governor, Dr Najma Heptulla at Raj Bhavan in Imphal upon his arrival. What was discussed in the meeting was not known.
The KNO and UPF held talks with New Delhi on June 12, 2018. The position and the progress of the talks are not known.
KNO and UPF have been raising the “territorial Council” type of arrangement, but the response of the Government of India remains unknown.
