
Jalukie, August 1 (MExN): The Peren District Voluntary Consumer Organization (PDVCO) conducted an awareness campaign at Jalukie Town Council hall in collaboration with Jalukie Town Youth Organization under the theme ‘Know your consumer rights’ on July 29.
The programme was chaired by Ngauzeulungbe Iheilung (programme coordinator) PDVCO, while invocation was pronounced by Igabe Hau. Keyigabuing Ndang delivered the welcome address followed by short speech from Advocate Josiah Zeliang, president PDVCO.
The resource persons, Advocate Asungbe Ramlia (notary public) and Advocate Pungbachung Meru (Notary Public) enlightened the gathering on importance of consumer rights. The resource person spoke on details of consumer issues, who is a consumer, who can file a complaint, when a complaint should be filed, where can the complaint be filed, how to file a complaint, what information a complaint should contain, the relief to be given and how an appeal can be filed.
Advocate Pungbachung Meru spoke in details how a person as a consumer should be vigilant in choosing products, services and goods and to insist on cash receipt every time a consumer buys or uses any goods, products and services. The seller of any goods has a liability to provide good quality pr4oducts and due diligence must be taken on the MRP. In matters of services, repairing, replacement or supply proper care must be taken. Different rights available to consumers were explained at length.
Interactive session was held during the programme and the participants were richly enlightened. Concluding note was delivered by Adabe Rao and benediction was pronounced by Achobe Chuilo.
Thereafter, a general election was held on July 30 where Advocate Josiah Zeliang was inducted as president, Keyigabuing Ndang as Secretary General, Joseph Ndang as vice-president, Sukho as assistant general secretary, Haizin Mpom as Treasurer. This was stated in a press release issued by PDVCO General Secretary, Keyigabuing Ndang.
