Kohima, April 25 (MExN): The first meeting of the program ‘Know Your Men Know Your DGP’ was held at Police Headquarter (PHQ), Kohima on April 24.
30 police personnel from the ranks of constables to sub-inspectors from all units of Nagaland Police attended the meeting.
The first part of the meeting focused on a review of the service matters and entitlement of the police personnel and the existing practices in this regard, informed a press release from PRO, PHQ.
The Director General of Police (DGP) checked if the relevant entries were made in timely manner in the Service Sheets such as Pay Fixation and Reward & Punishment. Further, he examined the progress of MACP cases and solicited feedback from the police personnel on how the unnecessary delays could be prevented.
Timely preparation of pension papers was also an area of focus. The DGP, according to the release, directed that police personnel who are nearing retirement should be compulsorily posted to the Unit Headquarters for at least one month during the last 12 months of the service so that the service formalities for pension papers could be completed in time.
Meanwhile, some police personnel were found to have not yet received the 7th ROP arrears and the DGP assured this would be rectified in the shortest possible time, the release added. In order to streamline the issue of uniform items, the DGP and other senior officers of PHQ decided that in addition to the uniform issue book (hand book) that is being maintained in the Unit Headquarters at present, clothing hand books shall be maintained in duplicate. The police personnel themselves will have one copy while the units will maintain and retain custody of the other so that the entire process is more transparent, it was stated.
With respect to the ration items, the DGP directed that the system of having Line/ Acceptance Committee at the Unit level should be revived and strengthened in consultation with Unit Commanders.
In the second part of the meeting, the DGP invited all the police personnel present to express their grievances if any. The issues highlighted by most of police personnel pertained to living conditions such as water supply, timely process of GPF, repair of police quarters etc, the release said.
The DGP assured that all the grievances will be redressed in a timely manner.
The meeting was attended by IGP (Range), IGP (NAP), AIG (Ado) and AIG (Provision), PHQ.
