Dimapur bags 1st position at state level Parliamentary Quiz Competition
DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): The state level Parliamentary Quiz Competition organised by the Department of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Nagaland was held at Imagine Hall of the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) on April 28.
Commissioner & Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, Parliamentary Affairs, Wezope Kenye, who graced the occasion as special guest said the competition is being held to celebrate the remarkable young minds and their thirst for knowledge and it embodies the curiosity and desires of the students to explore and learn new ideas.
Kenye said the competition is a reminder that knowledge is not limited to memorizing facts but of understanding how to fit together to create a bigger picture. He reminded that the competition is not just about answering questions correctly but about showcasing the ability to think critically, to analyse, interpret information and to apply it to the real world scenario.
He said that the quiz competition is about demonstrating the creativity, innovation and the capacity of the students to think outside the box. Kenye urged the participants to approach the competition not just as a challenge but as an opportunity to learn and to grow. He also encouraged the students to take advantage of the platform to showcase their skills and to gain new insights and perspectives.
Kenye added that knowledge is not only about facts but it is also about the ability to think critically to analyse and interpret data and to apply in solving life's complex problems.
While expressing gratitude to all the participants, teachers and organizers who have made the competition possible and successful, Kenye also assured that the department will continue to organise such events so as to encourage the students to participate in such events.
Altogether students from 13 districts participated in the competition. Students from the newly created districts Chümoukedima, Niuland, Tseminyü districts also participated in the competition for the first time. Dimapur district bagged the 1st position followed by Kiphire District in 2nd position, Longleng district in the 3rd position and Mokokchung district was placed in the 4th position. Cash prizes along with citations were awarded to the winners. More than 270 students from both private and government schools witnessed the competition.
Earlier, Assistant Professor Dr. Eunice Alinger, Kohima College, Kohima gave the welcome speech. Mewelo Kepfoh, Junior Section Officer, Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Nagaland gave the vote of thanks. Assistant Professor Dr. Evothung Ezung, Kohima College, Kohima was the host during the competition and a special number was presented by Wasenya Magh & Meshach Semy.
