Knowledge is your weapon today: Dr Ato to students

MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso today challenged the students to study hard to become an asset to the society.

“In the olden days, our society looks up to those persons who were huge and strong, who fought with daos and spears. But today, the society looks up to those persons who got knowledge.  Today, your weapons are not daos and spears. Today, your weapon is your knowledge,” Dr Ato said while sharing his thought to the young minds during the distribution of umbrella to the students of Government High School PWD and Government Middle School Minister’s Hill Kohima.

He maintained that knowledge will push them forward in the society.

Stating that there are no shortcuts to acquire knowledge, Dr Ato who represent 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, asserted that the only solution is to study hard.

Also stating that parents depends a good harvest through hard work from paddy/jhum cultivation in the olden days, he said “Nowadays, parents are investing for your education and want a good harvest from you (students).”

In this, he encouraged the students to strive for excellence and fetch them a good harvest.

Meanwhile, he told the students that those who are studying in government schools are fortunate ones as “teachers are all well qualified.”

“You are having the best teachers,” he told the students and also, commended all the dedicated teachers for moulding the students to become a useful and productive citizen in the near future.

Also stating that the students have the ‘best advisor’ in the form of Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education, Nagaland, Dr. Ato  was hopeful that the school education department will foster a teacher-student-friendly environment.

Earlier, G. Kevishe Phucho, chairman SMC, GMS Minister’s Hill urged MLA Dr. Ato to consider the updradation of the school to that of High School as well as infrastructure development in view of the high students enrolment.

GMS Minister’s Hill head teacher Atsei-ü informed that the school house 184 students at present with 22 teachers.

At GHS PWD, the umbrella distribution programme was chaired by Atoulie Pienyü. GHS PWD has around 350 students at present.
