Kohima, June 18 (MExN): In a bid to foster unity and promote musical talent, the Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA), St Francis de Sales (SFS) Parish Kohima, conducted ‘Shine Your Light: A Summer Youth Talent Revue’ event at Charity School Kohima on June 17.
The event was graced by the Angami Catholic Union (ACU) SFS Kohima as the special guests. Naga musician and ‘Down that Road’ famed artist Viriezhünuo Valerie, popularly known as Virie, and comedian-musician Rokovi Mathew made special appearances.
Keneilhounyü Daniel, President of ACU SFS, addressed the gathering, encouraging the youth to commit more fully to their duties and responsibilities and use their talents to glorify the Lord. He urged those with a deep love for music to pursue it as a profession.
Daniel also challenged the youth to make this an annual event to instill curiosity and engagement among them. He also encouraged the gathering to support one another, regardless of their chosen professions.
The event was enlivened by the debut performance of the "Shine Your Light Band" led by Peteneizo Francis. The band captivated the audience with their instruments and harmonic voices.
The evening's hosts were Mhasikholie Paul and Medolenuo Ambrocia. The programme began with an opening prayer from Parish Priest Rev Fr Matthew Mhabemo, followed by a Bible reading by Mary Kulnu, and a word of welcome from Neikhrietuo Albert, President of ACYA SFS. Teisovi Gerrard, Advisor of ACYA SFS, delivered the greetings.
The ACYA SFS Choir kicked off the extravaganza with a choral piece, followed by performances from various artists including Kekhrie, Alenuo Valentina, Thejaneizo Nigel, Agatha, Thejakhrienuo Angel, Dziesevizo John, Virieno Elizabeth, Mengusenuo Matilda, Kekhrie Patricia, Zhahelie Xavier, and Atule Jennifer. Thepfuko Krotho SFS and the ACWA SFS group also delivered chuckle-worthy performances.
A noteworthy performance was a guitar instrumental piece by Ketou Dominic Zuyie, a visually impaired musician.
Zhavilie Raymond, Convenor of the Music Committee SFS, delivered the vote of thanks. The congregation then sang “Ara Kizivi” led by the choir, and the event concluded with a closing prayer from Catechist Petekhriezo Francis.
