DIMAPUR, MARCH 17 (MExN): Kohima edged past Tseminyu by 10 runs in a tense encounter at Sovima Cricket Ground in the Senior Men’s Inter-District Tournament 2025. The closely contested match saw Kohima set a competitive target of 172, which they defended successfully despite a determined effort from Tseminyu.
After winning the toss, Kohima opted to bat and posted 172 in 39.3 overs. Imomenba played a pivotal role with the bat, anchoring the innings with a well-crafted 60 off 95 balls. His knock provided much-needed stability as Kohima struggled to accelerate, with Tseminyu’s bowlers maintaining tight lines. Kechesin Keppen was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 for 39 in his 10 overs, while Nuntilo Magh provided key support with 3 for 25, ensuring Kohima couldn’t post a more daunting total.
In pursuit of 173, Tseminyu’s innings saw moments of promise but was ultimately derailed by regular wickets. Ntsenlo Semp led the chase with a determined 51 off 99 balls, keeping Tseminyu in the hunt. However, Kohima’s bowlers, spearheaded by Samuel Zaputou’s 3 for 35 in 10 overs, struck at crucial intervals to restrict Tseminyu to 162 in 39.3 overs. Wokha beats Mon
Wokha delivered a commanding performance at the Nagaland Cricket Association Stadium, securing a massive 151-run win over Mon. A blistering century from Lijanbemo Patton and disciplined bowling ensured a dominant outing for Wokha.
Batting first after winning the toss, Wokha posted a formidable 312 in 48 overs. Patton was the star of the innings, smashing 112 off 77 balls in a display of aggressive stroke play. His knock, filled with well-timed boundaries and powerful sixes, set the tone for Wokha’s big total. C Abemo Kikon provided valuable support with 48 off 67 balls. Despite the onslaught, Mon’s Shamwang Wangnao put in a commendable effort with the ball, taking 6 for 56 in his 10 overs to prevent Wokha from extending their total further.
Mon’s chase never gathered momentum, as they struggled against Wokha’s disciplined bowling attack. Wangnao, after his bowling heroics, emerged as Mon’s top scorer with 39 off 87 balls, followed by Mugavi Wotsa’s 31 off 45. However, partnerships were hard to come by, and Mon was eventually bowled out for 161 in 46.4 overs. Kikon capped off a strong all-round performance by taking 3 for 38, ensuring Wokha’s dominance throughout the match.
