Kohima, July 29 (MExN): The City Bus Owners’ Union Kohima (CBOUK) has reaffirmed its commitment to the "One Government, One Tax" policy and has unanimously upheld it for better clarity and compliance.
This, among other key resolutions, was adopted during the CBOUK 23rd Annual General Meeting held at the Red Cross Building, Kohima, on July 19.
Meanwhile, following a suggestion from the guest speaker and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kohima (Traffic), Solevi Metha, the Union also resolved to grant fare exemption to all uniformed traffic police personnel on duty.
This gesture honours their service in ensuring road safety and managing city traffic under challenging conditions and latent functions of easing the traffic, CBOUK said.
The Union has also decided to continue the 50% fare concession for students wearing school uniforms and traveling during class hours, and termed it as an initiative to support education by making travel affordable for students across socio-economic backgrounds.
It further resolved that all buses registered under the Union are required to undergo annual renewal for 2025–2026 from August 1 to 12, 2025, between 10 AM and 2 PM at its office.
A photocopy of the bus permits, a valid driving license, and two passport-sized photos (for driver identity cards) are required for renewal, it added.
The CBOUK also reaffirmed its ongoing dedication to offering safe, affordable, and commuter-friendly bus services to the people of Kohima.
All resolutions adopted during the conference will be implemented with immediate effect where applicable and reviewed periodically to assess impact and improvements, it added.
The 23rd AGM also saw the unanimous election of a new executive body for the tenure 2025–2028.
The new team of office bearers will be led by Nometo Kin as President and Samuel Magh as General Secretary.
Other members include Vice President N Motsuromo Ezung; Joint Secretary/Action Committee Convener Kezhalekho Kiso; Treasurer Thupurule Thuluo; and Advisor Ketoulekho Ngukha.
