Kohima City Centre Project to be completed by Dec 2023 or Jan 2024

The ongoing construction work of City Centre Project in Kohima is expected to be completed by December 2023.

The City Centre will be well equipped with modern facilities like hotel building, multi level car parking, mini sports complex and a commercial centre.

Er K Theunuo, Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) told the media persons that this city centre project will be completed by December 2023 or January 2024.

The construction work will be expedited once the monsoon is over, he said.

The City Centre project in Kohima, spread across an area of 21, 408. 69 sq.m. (5.29 acres approx), has been taken up under re-development of Old Assembly Secretariat site under Smart City Mission.

The project is funded by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

Hotel Building: As part of the City Centre, the Hotel building conceptualized as the Centre of attraction for the whole Kohima city. The hotel building will be a 3 star standard hotel with a design made in modernism with traditional Naga symbols and elements.

The primary objective of the Hotel will be to cater tourist, businessman needs etc. and also to generate employment and livelihood opportunities for youth thereby mitigating the adverse effect of unemployment in the state. The Hotel building will have a multipurpose hall having a capacity to accommodate at least 180 people and a parking facility at its basement.

 Multi level car parking: In order to tackle the traffic congestion due to space crunch, the City Centre will have multi level vehicle parking facility. The Centre will provide maximum number of parking space and accordingly to decongest the area.

Mini sports complex: The City Centre will have a well furnished Mini Sports Complex for recreational, entertainment and sporting events. The Mini Sports Complex will have a basketball court, badminton court, multi-purpose hall, gymnasium, locker and changing rooms, coach rooms and a cafeteria with a kitchen.

Commercial centre: The City Centre will be endowed with a modernized Commercial centre. The primary objective of the Commercial Centre is to boost up the business community in Kohima city. The Centre will have facility for retail stores, restaurants, eateries, gaming zone and a multiplex to cater to all kinds of commercial needs of Kohima city.
