Kohima College holds 53rd parting social

Kohima, March 8 (MExN): Kohima College, Kohima held its 53rd parting social on March 7 in the college courtyard with Neingulo Krome, Secretary General, Naga People Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) as the guest speaker.
Speaking on the occasion, Krome stated that it was a nostalgic moment for him, as he himself was a student of Kohima College in 1977. He expressed gratitude to the college for providing logistic support for NPMHR activities, as per a press release from the college.
Krome shared about the struggles of Naga people in the 50’s who lived in the jungle like animals, seeking shelter in neighboring states like Manipur and Assam as their villages were burnt down to ashes. He took the example of Mangmetong village which was burnt down 18 times and narrated crucial moments in the history of the Naga people. Krome felt that he has a responsibility of sharing these struggles to today’s Naga generation, and stressed on how “we cannot sell away our Naga identity under any circumstances.”
Dr Ralimongla, Principal, KCK in her welcome address, stated that the college has gone through tremendous change in the last 53 years, and credited the students who are intelligent, smart and has the courage to dream for contributing to the change. She further encouraged them to be men and women of integrity.
Speeches on behalf of the outgoing and remaining students were presented by Lithrongba and Viboto. Sungtimen Alinger, Literature & Magazine Secretary released the college magazine and the awards and acknowledgement was given by Mhasisekho, Assistant General Secretary, KCSC. A prayer for the outgoing students was pronounced by Ruokovonuo, Assistant Professor, KCK.
